Have you heard?

Ayiba Magazine is collaborating with Libyan-Canadian jewelry designer Marim, who specializes in North African metal smithing to create unique West African inspired jewelry pendants. The Faces Collection features pendants, made to last from high quality copper and silver, formed into tribal masks and feminine silhouettes. The items are affordably priced and start at $45.

Ayiba is a very cool online magazine that highlights a new generation of munnamedovers and shakers who disrupt narratives through innovation, technology and new media, and spearhead the African renaissance. They seek to break down stereotypes about Africa and engage youth through an interactive digital platform that showcases Africa’s growing role in global affairs. Ayiba Magazine has worked with She Leads Africa (SLA), the Brooklyn Museum, Seedstars World, Wharton Africa, and the Financial Times to promote African excellence.

Raised in Libya and living in Canada, Marim is a jewelry designer who handcrafts jewelry pieces that combine tradition and modernism. Her passion for jewelry grew from her grandmother who encouraged her to explore art and continue with her passion in an industry that is dominated by men in Libya. Marim uses jewelry as a medium to tell stories and present heritage. Her inspiration comes from Libyan, African and Mediterranean cultures and history which she employs in most of her work.
